The Acupuncture Meridians - Oriental Medicine recognizes 12 major acupuncture meridians that are named after the organ  that they are predominantly connected to. The meridians traverse the body, interconnecting with each other. All either end or begin in the hand or the foot. The meridians are paired. Each yin meridian has a complementary yang meridian associated with it (as is shown in the chart below) and reaches a peak activation during a time specific time period each day. During the course of a day, day energy flows from yang to yin and back again. The study of the meridians is the study of ebb and flow of life.
